Week 4 Critique Review
This was a tough one for which there was no easy response. One of the
things I had hoped to bring out was a question… “Why would my
instructor ask us to look at this situation? Isn’t it obvious? It’s
just as bad now as it ever was.” That seems to be the popular opinion,
especially when reading or viewing media reports. While I asked for
perspective and critical thinking, in retrospect, I do not feel I
properly prepared you. Not intentional, but maybe that’s what happened.
You tell me... read

Calling
Home, By Jean Brandt
As we all piled into the car, I knew it was going to be a fabulous day.
My grandmother was visiting for the holidays; and she and I, along with
my older brother and sister, Louis and Susan, were setting off for a
day of last-minute Christmas shopping. On the way to the mall, we sang
Christmas carols, chattered, and laughed. With Christmas only two days
away, we were caught up with holiday spirit. I felt light-headed and
full of joy. I loved shopping-especially at Christmas... read

Associates… Defining Values,
Morals, and Ethics, Frank J. Navran
What is the difference between ethics, morals and values? Let me start
by stating that even among those who believe they know the answer to
this question there is not total agreement. For many, the way you
answer the question is a function of the academic discipline which
shaped your thinking and the religious and/or theological underpinnings
of your personal belief system. So... read

The Essential Ethical Exam,
By Peter de Jager
It's difficult to think of a subject touchier than that of what actions
are "Right" and what are "Wrong", especially when we're discussing a
real life situation. Ethics places not only our actions and behavior
under the microscope, but it also scrutinizes our integrity and worth
as a person. Since Ethics is so personal, it is socially unacceptable
to name names when discussing... read

Community College Communications 121… Communication in Marriage, By
Makayla Wilson
For my written term project, I decided to write about communication in
marriage. What a lot of people don’t know about me is that my parents
are divorced. Not many students at my school have experienced this
themselves. They have been divorced for almost four years now. Since my
parents are divorced, I have seen what no communication in a marriage
causes and can lead to. Even though... read

Communication
in the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, By Courtney Condy
The Salem witch trials took place in the Puritan village of Salem,
Massachusetts. Nineteen men and women were convicted of witchcraft and
hung. One man who refused to stand trial was pressed to death by heavy
stones, and dozens more languished in jail cells without trials. The
Salem witch trials could only be described as a wave of mass hysteria
that swept... read

The Effects of the Vietnam War Protest on
Society, By Levi Combs
The Vietnam War had a profound effect on American society.
It changed the way we viewed our government, the media, and our
Constitutional rights. Because of this shift in
perspective, the country was torn apart and yet still came together in
new and different ways. The Vietnam War's controversialist spurred a
great many sources of protest against our government's use... read

Communications
in the Abortion Debate, By Samantha Kremer
The early ending of a pregnancy is often defined as abortion. This
could be through surgery, medicine, or on its own (naturally). One of
the most common surgical procedures performed in the United States each
year is abortion. More than 40 percent of women will have an abortion
during their reproductive lifetime. A woman typical of ending her
pregnancy through abortion is... read

Adolf
Hitler: Oratory Genius, By Caitlin Grote
In the United States, every history class has some unit over the
actions and oratory of a single man, who ruled a country with his own
persuasive energy and finesse. This man was born a nobody, and died one
of the most powerful men in the world. Adolf Hitler was born April 20,
1889 to Alois Hitler and Klara Polzl. He was the fourth of six
children. After an average childhood, young Adolf discovered a... read
