DUI
On March 31st, 2026, at approximately 2156 hours, while on regular patrol I was traveling south bound on Wagner Avenue. I was following a small red SUV. The SUV pulled into the left turn lane at the intersection of Wagner Avenue and Rhoades, I continued straight behind a red Jeep Wagoneer bearing Ohio DRM2425. Both vehicles were stopped for the red-light side by side facing south bound.
When the light turned green the vehicle in the left turn lane continued through making a left turn. The Jeep in front of me did not move forward and sat stationary and began to impede traffic from moving. Once the other vehicle was in a private drive, the vehicle then accelerates quickly, when accelerating the back end of the vehicle dips. I conducted a traffic stop and stopped the Jeep at
500 Wagner Avenue; Dave Knapp’s for the above violation. Upon making contact with the driver ( later identified as Craig Leland) I advised him of the reason for the stop and asked him if he had his driver’s license. Craig stated he does, then makes several hesitative body movements reaching for several areas around the vehicle without grabbing anything. Craig then reaches to the center console taking a McDonalds fish sandwich out of the box and placing it on the dashboard. The Craig then reaches for the passenger glovebox opening it then not grabbing anything out of it. Right after, Craig attempted to open the door, hitting my chest with the driver’s side door saying it is in the back of the vehicle. I told Craig to remain in the vehicle, asking him he had anything to drink tonight. Craig states “no” with a lot of emphasis, then grabs a black Yeti cup. I asked Craig for his name, which he identifies himself as the registered owner of the vehicle.
I asked Craig to step out of the car to which he did. While speaking with Craig I observe his eyes to be glossy and smell a faint odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The odor was affected by the wind as I was standing up wind from Craig. I again ask Craig if he has had any alcohol tonight, to which he states no. I asked Craig at the same volume level where he was coming from tonight, he states what I then ask the same question again. Craig replies, Greenville, I ask Craig where he was heading to. Craig pauses and looks away grabs the door of his vehicle saying sorry he cannot hear me. The volume level of my voice did not change from any other questions. Craig again says “huh” and “what”, then reaches placing his hand on my shoulder. I take Craig’s hand off me telling him to not touch me. I again ask craig where he was going. Craig then stares off, not answering me then leans against his vehicle. I asked Craig if he remembered me asking for his driver’s license to which he stated yes then attempts to get back into the vehicle. I asked Craig if it was in his wallet, Craig stated “no I don’t have it”. I asked Craig again if he drank any alcohol tonight, Craig stated “no” in a higher tone of voice that I perceived to be angry or annoye. I asked Craig if he would conduct a standardized field sobriety test. Craig says “what”, shaking his head and taking a step back. I again asked Craig if he would do a standardized field sobriety test, which he refused. I asked Craig again how much he had to drink tonight, Craig replied that he just stopped at McDonalds.
I informed Craig that he was showing signs of impairment, Craig stated that he does take medication but did not answer what the medication was for or if it impaired his driving. Craig then reached into the vehicle grabbing his Yeti cup stating it was only water. After Craig reached into the vehicle and I changed my position, I was able to smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.
After speaking with Sgt. Prickett, Craig gets in his vehicle to get his cell phone. When Craig gets in the vehicle, Sgt. Prickett observes an open container of beer in the front driver door pocket; the beer is approximately 3/4 full and still cold to the touch. It was at this time I placed Craig in two pairs of handcuffs due to his restricted shoulder flexibility. The handcuffs were gap checked and double locked. I read Craig his Miranda Rights, which he stated he understood. When placing Craig in the back seat of my cruiser he advised he was having lower back pain from the handcuffs. I had Craig exit my cruiser and the handcuffs were readjusted and placed in front of him.
I transported Craig to the Greenville Police Department. While transporting Craig, I was able to smell a very strong odor of a alcoholic beverage coming from him. Upon arrival at the Greenville Police Department, he was read the BMV 2255 with P.O. Russell as a witness. Craig refused to submit to a breath test or provide a urine sample or blood sample and he was placed under Administrative License Suspension and read the notice of suspension on the BMV2255
Craig was issued his copy of the citation for OVI 4511.19 AlA and impeding traffic 4511.22A. Craig was advised of his mandatory court appearance. Craig was picked up by his wife Susan and his vehicle was left parked at 500 Wagner Avenue; Dave Knapp.
Photos of the beer can were taken by P.0. Russell and the can was placed into property as evidence. Please see his photo log for further.
Menacing
On April 2, 2026, at approximately 1346 hours I responded to 305 Marion Drive in the City of Greenville in reference to male threatening to shoot construction workers in the area.
Upon my arrival I spoke to Terry Grilliot who works for Milcon ( a construction company). Terry stated they were doing work in the yard at the above listed address, and they had a dump truck blocking the driveway. Terry stated the male, who he described as shirtless with a chest full of hair as well as very skinny and missing teeth. Terry stated this male asked them to move the truck rudely and started to “flip” out. Terry stated the male then stated he would go in the house and get a gun to blow his head off. That is when the truck was moved and the male subject left the house in a reckless manner.
I also spoke to Dominic Wirwick who also works for Milcon and witnessed this incident. Dominic stated the male asked them to move the truck and started screaming and cussing at them before they could get it moved. Domonic also stated the male threatened to grab a gun and shoot Terry. Both Terry and Dominic stated they both believed the threat to be real because he was super angry as he was throwing his tools around the yard.
I was told by Terry that a neighbor witnessed this incident and had the video of this incident. I went to 309 Marion Drive where I spoke to Jackie Wittler.
Jackie was observed to be shaking and seemed nervous. Jackie stated she was worried something more would have happened if she did not walk outside to start recording. Jackie stated “Jordan” who I believed to be Jordan Derringer.
Jordan’s father lives at 305 Marion. Jackie was able to show me video of the male subject who I confirmed to be Jordan Derringer. Jackie stated Jordan was working on his motorcycle in the driveway of 305 Marion Drive when something broke and he started cussing in general and not anyone at this time. Jackie stated the Milcon construction workers were working in the front yard of 305 Marion, and the truck was blocking the driveway. Jackie stated Jordan started to tell them to “get the fuck out of my yard or I will shoot ya” Jordan kept yelling profanities. Jackie stated the construction workers just told Jordan they were allowed to be in the yard as they were working. Jackie stated she took a video of what she could and tried to get Jordans attention directed on her as she did not want things to escalate. Jackie stated Jordan then got in his car and raced down the street.
Due to witness statements and video footage, it was decided to issue a citation to Jordan for Aggravated Menacing 2903.21( A) an Ml Offense. Terry filled out a victim rights form. Terry, Dominic and Jackie filled out written statements.
Jackie advised she would send me the video footage of this incident which will be attached to this report.
Jordan was later found by Sgt. Smith and issued a citation for menacing.
