Rumpke
of Ohio donates to Empowering programs
GREENVILLE – Rumpke of Ohio has awarded a grant to Empowering Darke
County Youth to support its programs in 2020-21. This is the second
year Rumpke has supported Empowering efforts to help students
struggling with their academics.
The Rumpke business was established in the 1930’s in the Cincinnati
area. Today, Rumpke has grown to include refuse and recycling services
throughout Southwestern and Central Ohio. The company has received
numerous awards, including the Green Business Award for Educational
Outreach, Environmental Stewardship and more.
Empowering Darke County Youth was established in 2016. The organization
is a 501c3 United Way Partner and as of March 15 has provided nearly
20,000 hours of service to 869 Darke County students struggling in the
core academics: reading, language arts and math.
The Empowering organization needs help preparing for service during the
2020-21 academic year. School closures in March impacted students
already struggling, as well as those who had been doing well but were
challenged by the move to online learning. Empowering Darke County
Youth can be reached on Facebook, empoweringyouth101@gmail.com or P.O.
Box 1113, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
Tutors are currently available for parents and their children who want
to get a jump on the school year with practice in educational basics by
contacting empoweringdistance101@gmail.com. Virtual tutoring is
available through Google Hangouts, Facebook, Skype, Zoom and more.
