Greenville City Schools
Kindergarten Registration scheduled for April
By Greenville Elementary Principal Jody Harter
It is time to register your child for kindergarten! Registering your
child on time is so very important so we can plan for the most
successful school year. Greenville City Schools will be holding
kindergarten registration in the evenings at the Elementary School
Tuesday, April 7th through Thursday, April 9th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on
Tuesday, and 4:00-6:00 P.M. on Wednesday and Thursday. You can also
register your child at Memorial Hall during the day, Monday through
Thursday from 8:30-3:30, or on-line at
https://greenville.esvportal.com. Your child does not need to be
present for registration. Your child must be 5 years old by August 1st
to be eligible for kindergarten.
Once you have registered your child, you will be assigned a
kindergarten screening date that will be held during the week of April
20th. At screening, your child will be given a short academic, speech
and health screening. Parents will be provided with helpful information
about kindergarten, will be able to ask questions, and visit the school
with their child.
Screening is vital for families to get information about how
kindergarten has changed over the years, learn about our district, and
hear about a typical day in kindergarten. We will also gain information
about your child that will help us place them in the perfect
kindergarten classroom.
At screening, students will have the opportunity to get on a school bus
and learn about bus safety. They will also receive a pencil, magnetic
dry erase board and marker, magnetic letters, crayons, scissors, a book
about manners at school, and a Wee Wave drawstring bag to keep
everything tidy. Parents will learn how to use these materials with the
students to provide the best start to school curriculum.
Please register your child early so that they can be included in the
screening process. This will help us with providing an exceptional
school experience for you and your child.
Documents needed to complete the registration include: official birth
certificate, immunization records, two documents for proof of residency
(something with a mailing address included,) parent or guardian photo
ID, and custody papers if applicable.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Mrs. Harter, Elementary Principal, at 548-3185.
