Brinksteader shows Grand Champion steer

GREENVILLE- At the ripe old age of 12, Lance Brinksteader stood tall at the Darke County Fair Saturday. The Arcanum student took his 1321 pound steer to the winners circle as Grand Champion.

A member the Darke County 4H Beef Club, Brinksteader said it was only his second year of showing and was very surprised at his achievement.

“I really thought it would take several years for this to happen to me,” said the young champion. “I work with him a few hours a day but I’m not sure what made him so special to the judge. Having the Grand Champion makes me excited for next year.”

Brinksteaders said if it weren’t for the help of his parents, Janelle and Jason, as well as his brothers Logan and Luke, he wouldn’t have achieved this status so soon.

Other champions included:

Lincoln Winner-Division One Market Heifer

Steers

Rose Barga-Division Two
Tyler Winner-Division Three
Lance Brinksteader- Division Four/Grand Champion
Luke Winner- Division Five/Reserve Grand Champion
