You cannot change facts
By Mona Lease
I've never seen so much paranoia, hate, unrest, and stock-piling of
guns and ammo in my life. You cannot buy a hand gun or ammo for a 9mm
or .380 anywhere.
People:
You can burn or destroy every flag that is "offensive" to you. You can
tear down every statue that you feel is "inappropriate" or "outdated."
You can "rewrite" history but, you will never erase facts.
Fact: White people on the north side of the Ohio River - up through the
United States, across Lake Erie and into Canada - risked their lives,
their families, their homes, and their crops to help black people get
free. Why? Because they believed that if blacks wanted to be free -
they deserved their freedom. It was called the Underground Railroad.
Parts of it still exist today in Darke County.
It was a black gentleman from Ohio who "bucked the system" - as it were
- and said, "I think I have a better way for the traffic lights" -
which were only green and red. They already had them (red and
green) in Europe. He said, "If you put a yellow light between the
green and red ones - it will give folks a chance to stop." (Wording my
speculation. Meaning is the same.).
Just as there are those that will not attend church - they will defend
your right to go there. And they will speak out about it or put an
action to their beliefs.
There will always be those people who will help you get what you need -
food, medicine, shelter - because they believe you deserve that
much. Wait and see.
