Pressure Canner Dial Gauge Testing
Did you know your pressure canner dial gauge needs to be checked for
accuracy every year? To make sure your canned foods are safe to
eat, your gauge must be accurate. Like other mechanical devices,
these gauges can malfunction. They can also become inaccurate
from the hazards of use, from being accidentally damaged, or from
storage where there has been exposure to extreme heat or cold during
the off-season.
Dial gauges will be tested on June 11th from Noon – 4:00 pm. To
schedule your appointment you may email scammahorn.5@osu.edu, call
937-548-5215, or go online to
https://go.osu.edu/2020pressurecannertesting .
Dial gauges will be tested at the Learning Center located at OSU Extension, Darke County, 603 Wagner Avenue, Greenville.
Please bring your lid, with gauge attached, to your pre-scheduled
appointment. Only one person will be permitted in the Learning Center
at a time. We will test your gauge and return it to you during
your appointment. If you have a mask available, we ask that you wear it
while in the building. If you have any questions, please reach out to
Dr. Roseanne Scammahorn at scammahorn.5@osu.edu or call the office at
937-548-5215.
