Eleven Edison State faculty members receive promotions
Edison State Community College recently announced the promotion of eleven full-time faculty members.
“These faculty members have worked hard to document their
accomplishments on behalf of students over many years of service at
Edison State. In order to earn a promotion, the candidate has to
demonstrate excellence in teaching, supporting students outside the
classroom, curriculum development, professional growth, and service to
the college. Each of the faculty members being promoted has done an
outstanding job in these areas, and we are so proud to have them on the
team at Edison State,” said Edison State Provost Chris
Spradlin.
The following faculty members received promotions, effective during the 2020-2021 academic year.
Promotion to assistant professor: Kerry Dowling, Nursing, Troy, Ohio.
The rank of assistant professor requires that the individual holds a
master’s degree in the discipline for which they are hired,
demonstrates characteristics of effective teaching, provides support to
students outside the classroom, initiative in curriculum development,
professional growth, and participates in college activities. They must
complete two full academic years since their last promotion.
Promotions to associate professor Beth Bengough, Psychology, Piqua,
Ohio; Beka Lindeman, English, Piqua, Ohio; and Erin Reese, Biology,
Jackson Center, Ohio.
The rank of associate professor requires that the individual holds a
master’s degree in the discipline for which they are hired,
demonstrates and can explain characteristics of effective teaching,
provides support to students outside of the classroom, demonstrates the
ability to provide curriculum leadership, continues professional
growth, and provides service to the college. They must complete three
full academic years since their last promotion.
Promotion to full professor: Amanda Bylczynski, History, Piqua, Ohio;
Greg Clem, Art, Piqua, Ohio; Rachael Detraz, Biology, Springfield,
Ohio; Brian Leingang, English, Pleasant Hill, Ohio; William Loudermilk,
English, Dayton, Ohio; Rebecca Schinaman, Computer Information
Technology, Tipp City, Ohio; and Eileen Thompson, English, Kettering,
Ohio.
The rank of full professor requires that the individual possesses at
least 18 semester hours beyond the master’s in the discipline for which
they are hired, is a master teacher, provides support to students
outside the classroom, provides curricular leadership, continues
professional growth, provides leadership to the college, becomes
recognized by external peers. They must complete five full academic
years since their last promotion.
