Sam Custer moves on, Taylor Dill returns to Darke County
Good Evening Darke County! I am Taylor Dill your new Agriculture and
Natural Resources Educator for Darke County. I am replacing Sam Custer
as he got a promotion and is now working out of Columbus! I would like
to say a congratulations to Sam, I know he will be dearly missed here.
I wanted to give you all a background of who I am! I grew up on a farm
in the Hollansburg area on the southern side of the county. I graduated
from Tri-Village in 2013 and then went to Wilmington College to get my
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture with a concentration in Agronomy.
During school I interned here in Darke County with Sam and I LOVED it.
I got to help with on farm research, go on calls with Sam and got
acquainted with Extension and farming in the rest of the county. After
this experience I went to graduate school at Ohio State under Dr.
Alexander Lindsey and studied the effects of flooding on young corn and
how Nitrogen can assist in its recovery. I then graduated with my
Master’s degree in May of 2019 and accepted a job with NC State
Extension where I covered 2 counties for specifically Row Crop
production. While I enjoyed my time with NC State, it has been my dream
to come back to Darke county and serve the agriculture community at
home.
I have a strong agronomy background but also have experience with
livestock production as well. My favorite part of working with
Extension is going to farms and identifying field issues as well as
working directly with producers to improve practices.
I am very excited to be serving and working with you all!
Please do not hesitate to call!
