R. Dean Brewer
R. Dean Brewer, 91, of Beamsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on
Monday, February 17, 2020, at Versailles Rehab and Heathcare in
Versailles.
He was born on February 16, 1929, in Miami County, Ohio, to the late
David and Pearl (Brumbaugh) Brewer.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his
daughter-in-law, Sue Brewer; and his siblings, Helen Miller, Donald
Brewer, and Bob Brewer.
Dean was a 1947 graduate of Versailles High School. He attended the
Beamsville Christian Church, where he served as a deacon. He loved to
fellowship with his church community and read the Bible. He served his
country honorably in the United States Army. Dean was a truck driver
for many years, and retired in 1994 from ABF Freight with 30 years of
service.
He loved the outdoors. Dean was a farmer and enjoyed tending to his
crops and livestock. When he was not tinkering with his tractors and
lawn mowers, Dean would go out and walk through the woods enjoying
nature. He loved to go out to breakfast with his friends at Front
Street Inn and the Wooden Spoon. Dean enjoyed attending auctions and
going fishing. He was a helpful person and would lend a helping hand to
anyone who needed it. Most importantly, Dean loved his family and
grandkids.
Dean is survived by his wife of 66 years, Thelma (Amspaugh) Brewer,
whom he married on February 21, 1953; his children, Kenny Brewer and
his wife, Pam, of Greenville, Greg Brewer of Bradford, Ohio, and Jana
DeBord and her husband, Don, of Versailles; his 7 grandchildren, 24
great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; his
sister-in-laws, Betty Brewer, Mary Hart, Iona Amspaugh, and Danna
Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dean’s life, with full military honors provided by the
Greenville Honor Guard, will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday,
February 22, 2020 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus with
Pastor Steve Short officiating.
Guests may visit with Dean’s family on Saturday, from 10:00 AM until
the time of the service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be given to Beamsville Christian Church or State of the Heart Care.
