Richard Miller
Jesse “Ragweed” Richard Miller, 94, of Greenville, Ohio, formerly of
Hollansburg, Ohio, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, June 9,
2020, at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.
He was born on January 1, 1926, in Palestine, Ohio, to the late Jesse
Andrew and Alma (Stephens) Miller.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his wife,
Jane (Campanale) Miller, whom he married August 4, 1951; his grandson,
Derick Miller; his son, Jack Miller; and his siblings, Joan Laux and
Robert Miller.
Jesse was an outdoorsman and enjoyed all aspects of it. From being a
steward of the land to helping others out, Jesse never knew a stranger.
As a lifetime farmer, he enjoyed spending his springs, summers, and
falls on the farm. During the winter and his down times, Jesse worked
for Whittington Produce in Glen Karn and for Frank Girberts. He liked
to cut and burn wood and tend to his garden, which he gave most of it
to others.
Jesse honorably served our nation during the World War II era as a
member of the Army Air Corps in Japan. He was a member of the
Hollansburg American Legion, Post 708, the Greenville VFW, and was a 20
plus year member of Friendship Church in rural Darke County.
Jesse is survived by his children, Jesse Miller and his wife, Vickie,
of Hollansburg, Cavela Schneider and her husband, Michael, of
Lexington, Indiana, and John Miller and his wife, Terry, of Greenville;
his grandchildren, Beth Ann Kane of Dayton, Ohio, Sarah Miller of
Dayton, Jacky and his wife, Katie, of Dayton, John Schneider and his
wife, Rachel, of Canton, Ohio, Thomas Schneider and his wife, Morgan,
of Rockwell, North Carolina, David Schneider and his wife, Katie, of
Madison, Indiana, Austin Miller and his wife, Brittany, of Crestview,
Florida, and Ashton Miller of New Paris, Ohio; his 13 great
grandchildren; his sister, Frances Myers of Greenville; and his
sister-in-law, Marion Smith of Greenville.
A celebration of Jesse’s life will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday,
June 17, 2020, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. A
live-stream of the service will be available at
www.facebook.com/tributefuneralhomes. Burial, with full military honors
conducted by the Greenville Honor Guard, will follow in Hollansburg
Cemetery.
The family will be receiving guest on Wednesday from 12 noon until the
time of service at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
