Yvonne Wages
Yvonne Wages, 93, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February
14, 2021, at The Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio.
She was born May 24, 1927 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Rev.
Benjamin and Treva (Longenecker) Timmons.
In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband
of 60 years, Coleman Wages, whom she married on October 16, 1954; her
son, Benjamin Wages; her sisters, Madeline Apwisch, and Juanita
Harnish; her brothers-in-law, Lou Apwisch, Bill Harnish, and John
Young; as well as her sister-in-law, Phyllis Timmons.
Yvonne was one of eight children and a 1945 graduate of New Madison
High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed tending the garden. She
enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and playing board
games, especially Scrabble. She taught Sunday School at her church,
Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren, for more than 50 years. She
also volunteered as a poll worker for the Harrison Township election
board.
She is survived by her son Doug (Sue) Wages of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; her
daughter, Angela (George) Hunt of Beaumont, Texas; her grandchildren,
Shannon (Andy) Riley of Woodburn, Indiana, Tim (Beth) Wages of Fort
Wayne, Indiana, Nicole (Josh) Lovoi of Houston, Texas, and Brian
(Ginny) Hunt of Wylie, Texas. Yvonne also leaves behind 10 great
grandchildren; her sisters, Phoebe Young, and Mary (Robert) Neher; her
brothers, Dr. Daniel Timmons, Robert (Joan)Timmons, Rev. Glenn (Linda)
Timmons; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Allen of Miamisburg, Ohio; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Yvonne's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday,
February 24, 2021, at Tribute Funeral Homes, New Madison Campus, with
Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound
Cemetery in New Madison.
Yvonne's family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, from 1:00 PM
until the time of the service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Due to the COVID pandemic, the family is requesting that guests wear
masks and practice social distancing.
The family expresses its heartfelt thanks to the staff of Rosewood 4,
at The Brethren Retirement Community, for the loving care they gave to
Yvonne during her time there. The family requests that any memorial
contributions be made to the Brethren Retirement Community Resident Aid
Fund, 750 Chestnut St. Greenville, Ohio 45331.
