Petitjean
Wilbur Marcus Petitjean age 78, of Versailles passed away on Thursday,
January 28, 2021, at his home.
Wilbur was born November 9, 1942, in Versailles to the late Joseph A.
& Lucy G. (Barga) Petitjean. In addition to his parents, Wilbur was
also preceded in death by infant son, Joseph Raymond Petitjean; and
brothers, Delbert, Joseph L. and Adrian F. Petitjean.
Wilbur is survived by his wife of 43 years, Caroline M. (Mills)
Petitjean whom he married May 2, 1977; sons & daughters-in-law,
Jacob Petitjean & Megan Coffman of Wapakoneta, John & Sarah
Petitjean of Versailles, Shawn & Heather Petitjean of Versailles
and Shannon & Shannon Petitjean of Versailles; grandchildren,
Kaleb, JJ, Ashley, Abby, Dale, Jarrod, Kyle, Christopher, Faithlynn and
Charlotte Petitjean; brother & sister-in-law, Charlie & Pam
Petitjean of Versailles; brothers-in-law, Jim Mills of Hollansburg, Ron
Mills of Hollansburg and Thomas Cline of Union City, Indiana;
sister-in-law, Patricia Petitjean of Versailles; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Wilbur graduated from Versailles High School. He served in the U.S.
Army from 1962-1964 following High School. Wilbur farmed and retired
from Edwin F. Nickol Monuments in Versailles with over 40 years of
service. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles;
Knights of Columbus Council #1756 of Versailles; Versailles Fraternal
Order of Eagles and the Versailles American Legion. Wilbur was a
loving, caring, hardworking man willing to help anyone in need. He
loved vacationing at St. Pete Beach, Florida and in the Caribbean with
his wife. Wilbur was an avid Tigerball sports fan and longtime
Versailles Athletic Booster supporter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February
1, 2021, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim
Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery. The
family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 and Monday
morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in
Versailles. Full military honors will be conducted by the Versailles
Veteran’s Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to State of
the Heart Care.
